MOTIVATION AND ATTITUDE OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS TOWARDS LEARNING ENGLISH
Abstract
Motivation is one of the crucial factors that affects English language learning especially for English as a Foreign Language learners, so is with the attitude that affects the result of learners’ achievement in learning English. Thus, attitude and motivation are the important determinants. The aims of this study is to identify the level of English language learning motivation and attitude of International Program undergraduate students at Private University in Indonesia. This survey research adopted from Chalak and Kassaian (2010) adapted from Gardner’s (2004) instrument of Attitude/Motivation Test Battery English version that contained of 64 items from 8 domains. The respondents of this study consisted of 100 International Program undergraduate students. The results showed that the students are highly motivated and have positive attitudes towards learning English. Also, the IP undergraduates’ students are equally integratively and instrumentally motivated towards learning English.
